About ASP: University of St Andrews

  • What is ASP: University of St Andrews?

  • The Administrative Systems Project [ASP] is a major project to improve key areas of the University’s information infrastructure. The project will undertake a critical evaluation of the quality, structure and availability of data as well as gaps in the functionality of the business systems, which currently underpin Human Resources, Payroll, Finance, and Research Grant management.
  • What is the purpose of the ASP: University of St Andrews site?

  • The site is a way to encourage communication and information sharing amongst the project team and for giving updates to university staff on our progress.

Accounts

  • Are there different types of account?

  • Most users have the same type of account however the system does have two administrators who have extended privileges for monitoring and administering the site.
  • How do I change my password?

  • You password can be changed by going into the Account Settings menu and scrolling down to the password section. Here you can enter a password of your choice.
  • What do I do if I forget my password?

  • If you forget your password email one of the system administrators with your username and they will reset it for you.

Communitites

  • What is a community?

  • A community is a place for groups of users with similar interests. It provides a place for a group of users to discus ideas and share files. Any community member can post to the community blog.
  • Is community membership moderated?

  • Community membership is not moderated by default however the owner of the community can choose to set membership to moderated. This means when you try and join the community a message will be sent to them allowing them to accept or decline your membership.

Contacts

  • How do I link to my contacts?

  • You link to another user by visiting their profile page. You will then see a link under their icon in the sidebar which allows you to link to them.

Access restrictions

  • How is access to content controlled?

  • Each user has the ability to set their own access restrictions on any content they upload. The default options are private: only you can see it; public: everyone can see it; and loggedin: anyone logged in to the site can see it. You can also restrict access to only members of a community you are a member of or to a group of your contacts.
